2. Project Plan

After carrying out our user research, we had a clear understanding of the direction we wanted to take the redesign. I found all of the research we conducted very helpful. Having this evidence created a solid foundation and clear path for our design development.

From here, we still had to settle our concepts for the redesign. As a group of three, we found it easy to all work together. There was a comfortable atmosphere between us all from the beginning. This helped to create an environment where ideas could breathe. The previous module I was in a group of four and at times felt ideas got watered down to appease all stakeholders. This is quite understandable considering we all have not met each other before not to mention working on a team together. So the natural instinct would be to keep everyone happy to keep things running smoothly. However, it can dampen the potential of the project. So working with three I found the dialogue and connection ran more smoothly and also quicker.

We created a project plan to show what was ahead of us and keep us on track. We did not outline tasks specifically to any one individual. Thinking it best that we all had a voice on every aspect of the project. By all of us chipping into all the phases of the process, we would get a more measurable overview. So we would be able to cut and paste ideas and then fuse together to create a considered end product.

We used Slack to share our thoughts, research and content. We also used Google hangouts a couple of times when we could not meet in person. Although they were never as successful as meeting in person. We did a few stints after work hours in Clodagh’s office, which were far more productive aided by the free coffee.

Up until Christmas, we were in a good position we had our concepts secured. So our Christmas homework was to dive into the ideation phase and begin wireframing. Over Christmas, there was a bit of radio silence from all parties. During this time, we dropped the ball somewhat. When we came back from Christmas, there was not as much work done as we would have liked. Clodagh created wireframes through Invision to get the ball rolling, and myself and Andre looked at how the home page would look through Figma. So when we came back from Christmas, we did not develop along as much as we would have liked.
